Acideka, a Basque family-owned chemical company, together with its strategic partners Build to Zero and NetOn Power, has been awarded the prize for Best Industrial Decarbonisation Project at the fifth edition of the 2026 Energy Night Awards, held on 7 July at the Fundación Canal in Madrid. The awards, organised by El Periódico de la Energía, recognise the most innovative and transformative initiatives in the Spanish energy sector.
Madrid, 8 July 2026. — Acideka has been awarded the prize for Best Industrial Decarbonisation Project at the fifth edition of the La Noche de la Energía Awards, held on 7 July at the Fundación Canal in Madrid. The awards, organised by El Periódico de la Energía, recognise the most innovative and transformative initiatives in the Spanish energy sector in areas such as decarbonisation, energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, digitalisation and talent.
The jury recognised the project developed by Acideka at its chemical plant in Lantarón (Álava), an initiative that makes the facility the first chemical plant capable of decarbonising 100 per cent of its industrial heat production using renewable energy and thermal storage, replacing traditional fossil-fuel boilers with a system powered by a self-consumption photovoltaic plant.
This recognition highlights an innovative collaborative model in which Acideka, Build to Zero and NetOn have pooled their expertise to tackle one of the industry’s greatest challenges: the decarbonisation of industrial thermal processes.
As the industrial promoter and end-user of the solution, Acideka has led the transformation of its energy model with the aim of drastically reducing its CO₂ emissions and moving towards more sustainable and competitive production.
For its part, Build to Zero has contributed its specialist knowledge in industrial decarbonisation solutions and the electrification of thermal processes, participating in the design and development of a technological solution capable of completely replacing the use of fossil fuels in industrial heat generation.
Furthermore, NetOn Power has played a key role in the integration of renewable energy for self-consumption, providing the energy supply needed to power the new system and ensure its efficient and sustainable operation, in line with energy transition objectives.

The gala brought together more than 250 representatives from companies, public administrations and institutions in the energy sector, establishing itself as one of the leading events in the field of energy transition in Spain. Katherine Anchorena Norström, Head of Communications and Sustainability at Acideka, Alberto Martín Rivals, CEO of NetOn Power, and Miguel Méndez Trigo, CTO and co-founder of Build to Zero, accepted the award on behalf of this project, which now sets a benchmark for industrial decarbonisation.
The solution implemented in Lantarón is a success story that can be replicated in other industrial sectors with high thermal demand, and demonstrates that the electrification of industrial heating, combined with renewable energy and thermal storage, can significantly accelerate the decarbonisation of industry.
With this award, Acideka, Build to Zero and NetOn reinforce their joint commitment to developing innovative solutions that contribute to building a more efficient, competitive and climate-neutral industry.
