Acideka participates in a sustainability event alongside Acciona and El Economista

Madrid, 1 November 2024 – Last October, Katherine Anchorena, Head of Marketing and Communications at Acideka and representative of the Sustainability Committee, participated as a speaker at the event Partners and suppliers: The challenge of building a sustainable value chain, organised by elEconomista.es in collaboration with Acciona, the infrastructure and renewable energy company.
The event featured a debate panel moderated by Javier Mesones, Head of Business and Finance at elEconomista.es, in which Katherine Anchorena participated alongside Francisco Vidal, Director of Economics and Sectoral Policies at CEPYME; Yolanda Alcalá García, Deputy Director General for SME Support at the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, and Fernando Hinojosa, Director of Strategic Purchasing, Processes and Systems at Acciona.
The discussion covered, among other topics, how sustainability has become crucial for companies in the supply chain. On one hand, measuring the environmental, social and governance risks of suppliers remains a challenge in ensuring they do not negatively affect companies’ credentials. At the same time, a global and diverse value chain offers new and distinctive opportunities.
“Sustainability must be aligned with the company’s overall objectives, involving all departments and functions, starting from senior management downwards and throughout the entire value chain.
” Katherine Anchorena, Head of Marketing & Communications, Acideka
AI was a prominent topic at the event, with discussion of how this technology allows us to optimise distribution routes, measure our carbon footprint and efficiently manage our transport chain across Spain. “These actions not only benefit the environment, but also our suppliers, eliminating administrative tasks and facilitating collaboration,” explains Katherine Anchorena. At Acideka we are convinced that digitalising our operations is essential to reducing our carbon footprint, creating value and promoting a more sustainable sector.
The importance of large companies supporting their suppliers to give them greater capacity to integrate sustainability into their processes, the return companies receive from having a sustainable supply chain — which is real even if it takes time to materialise — and the need for the public administration to promote greater financing, regulation and training programmes were at the centre of the debate.
