Acideka SAU has launched an ambitious project to decarbonise industrial process heat at its facility in Lantarón (Álava), based on the implementation of a power-to-heat system with thermal storage. This initiative forms part of the company’s commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
The project has been funded under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), with support from the European Union – NextGenerationEU, as part of the grant programme for innovative energy storage projects.
The total investment in the project amounts to €2,517,557.00, with public funding of €1,007,023.00 (Component 8, Investment 1 – C8.I1). This funding has enabled the development and implementation of advanced technological solutions aimed at the electrification of thermal processes and the use of cleaner energy sources.
The scope of the project includes the installation of a power-to-heat system, together with a thermal storage system that optimises energy use, improves operational efficiency and reduces dependence on fossil fuels. Thanks to this infrastructure, Acideka is making progress in the transition towards a more sustainable energy model, actively contributing to industrial decarbonisation targets.
Key expected outcomes include a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions, improved energy efficiency in production processes, and the promotion of the integration of renewable energy into the industrial sector.
